The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs
SPECIAL REUNION WRAP PARTY

Hi, I'm Phil Kiwi, with Koko. Welcome to our Amanxing Race II: Going to the Dogs Reunion Wrap Party Show. We thought you'd want to see -- and hear -- what our Amanxing Race contestants have been doing since the race ended.

Hercules and Maxx returned triumphantly to New York City and were treated to a ticker-tape parade down Wall Street. Mayor Bloomberg presented them with special citations in honor of their Top Three finish. They are back with the Police Department, and are already planning their strategies for The Amanxing Race III: A Fine and Fancy Ramble. Meanwhile, they are preparing to open K-9, New York City's first dogs-only restaurant, located in Manhattan's Upper West Side.

No sooner did Army Mule and Navy Goat return to West Point and Annapolis respectively than they were enlisted for a goodwill tour with the American and British troops in Baghdad. Army Mule gave rides while Navy Goat demonstrated his retractable horns aboard the U.S.S. Abraham Lincoln. This popular pair is now gearing up for the Fall 2003 football season when their teams meat in the Army-Navy game. No doubt they'll share their Race memories.

Navy lives only an hour away from Mei Xiang and Tian Tian in the National Zoo, who continue to be the zoo's most popular exhibit. They won't be riding in any cabs soon!

The panda pals had a visit recently from Bella and Douglas, who were NOT in Washington to meet with independent political leaders to consider another run for the White House in the 2004 elections. No, they weren't. No, not our favorite cats. But then, why did the Zoo crowd break out into a chant of "Catnip Bush no more!/Bella-Douglas in 04!" when they saw their favorite Manx? I think Bella and Douglas will be concentrating more on getting ready for their third Amanxing Race.

The oldest and smartest Racers were Keo and June, the chimpanzee father and daughter. While Lincoln Park Zoo is constructing a new great ape house, Keo and June are boarding temporarily at the North Carolina Zoological Park in Asheboro, N.C., where they spend their days eating monkey biscuits, climbing trees, and placing prank calls to Koko at the Gorilla Foundation.

On the way home from the Race, the chimps stopped in to visit Heidi and Depot in Tennessee. Spirits were high as Keo chased Heidi around the back yard, but when Heidi's boy, nine-year-old Cliff Landon joined in, he tripped over Depot and broke his arm in two places. Smart June knew enough to hold Cliff's arm steady while Keo went for help. Fortunately, Cliff is on the mend and Heidi and Depot are glad to be home with their family.

Everyone was surprised at how friendly Fancy Feast became when she didn't have to participate in the Race anymore. She and Chef's Blend, former stars of the Friskies Cat Team, have developed their own traveling cat show, coming to a stadium near you.

Let's not forget the disappearing ARII tigers, Siegfried and Roy, who continue to perform in their owners' magic show at the Mirage Hotel in Las Vegas.

Casey and Clancy forgot to show up for their interview!

Our two outdoors pairs, the foxes and the opossums, are enjoying life on the opposite coasts of the United States. Sanford and Banjo recently were the guests of honor at Patriot's Day ceremonies in Lexington, Massachusetts, and they've also been spotted in the Littleton area.

Althea and Rosemary are playing dead in San Francisco's Golden Gate Park, hanging out occasionally at 710 Ashbury Street, and are looking for rides for this summer's tour.

And what about our race winners, Ch. Goldendog's Boston Red Line ARII and Ch. Goldendog's Boardwalk Salt Water Candy ARII, better known as Quincy and Taffy, of Naples, Florida? They have a tough decision to make. Should they continue their string of international dog show competitions? Or should they rest up for the Amanxing Race III: A Fine and Fancy Ramble? I think our champion Goldens can do both. The American Kennell Club awarded them the "ARII" initials after their names in honor of their victory.

Finally, we go across the Atlantic to the International Dog Show of Madrid, Spain. Guess who won Best in Show in the Havanese breed class? Why, it's none other than Ch. Cocosolo's You Wear It Well, better known to one and all as: PIERRE! You can see how much our little stowaway has grown up in this picture of him in his show clip.

Pierre

Pierre and his family had a brief visit from Army Mule who was flying back from his Baghdad tour, and they have plans to get together with Quincy and Taffy at the Crufts Dog Show in England.

Be sure to tune in here for more Amanxing Race wrap-up, including my online chat and our exclusive Eebay auction, coming soon! I'm Phil Kiwi.
