The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs
DOGLEG 6: Three Curs in the Fountain

With the elimination of the truly dangerous Las Vegas White Tigers, Siegfried and Roy, a sense of relief settles over the German pet stop in Rottweil. Everyone can relax a bit now. Bella sleeps, Sanford and Banjo get their pictures taken in the town square, and Navy Goat even finds a few beer cans to his liking.

Koko, what do you think?

"Well, Phil, we have a very interesting dilemma here for our Amanxing Race producers. The two teams perceived by the fans as 'villainous' have both been eliminated. How will they create story arcs now to position one team as dislikeable? Army Mule and Navy Goat have been bickering, and the police dogs are very aggressive, but nobody who remains is truly repugnant to the audience. And what are we to do about Pierre, the little lost Havanese? Will he drag one of the teams down with his..."

Koko? KOKO!!! The cameras are on!!! Koko?!?

"Koko love race. Bad big white cats gone, bad little white cat gone. Koko love little white dog. Koko love All Ball cat, yellow dogs, little red dogs."

Team Army-Navy is the first to leave Rottweil, with the following clue: "You're in Beethoven's country; now you'll meet "Beethoven." Ride in your Mercedes to the Great St. Bernard Pass in the Swiss Alps where you will find your next clue.

One by one, the pairs leave Germany, waving goodbye to the local townsfolk but not to Henry Kissinger, who left after the last pair arrived. Pierre, who has bonded with Taffy, rides with Team QT, sleeping most of the way into the mountains.

At the Great St. Bernard Pass, Army Mule and Navy Goat, and Bella and Douglas, who have caught up, meet two Saint Bernard dogs with the traditional beer kegs around their necks.

Teams are greeted at St. Bernard Pass

Each Racer has a drink, then opens their next clue to find two Euros and this message: "Two coins in the Fountain, which team will the fountain bless? Take the train to Rome, Italy, and throw these coins into the Trevi Fountain." The retrievers and their new friend arrive soon after, and Pierre predictably gets stuck in the snow. Quincy has to dig him out, but he doesn't really mind.

At Martigny, Switzerland, Pierre and Taffy enjoy the view

Martigny is the Swiss train station nearest to the pass, and the Racers arrive at the station to buy their tickets. Army Mule decides he wants to buy a knife and wanders off to the gift shop while Navy tries to get the tickets. There aren't two tickets left on the noon train, so he and Army will have to ride on the 2:30 train with the chimps and foxes. Quincy and Taffy also are stuck on the later train as the producers have to come and figure out who is responsible for Pierre's travel. But they don't really mind.

Quincy prepares to join Taffy on board the train

Meanwhile, Bella and Douglas, Heidi and Depot, and Hercules and Maxx leave for Rome. All roads in these parts really do lead to Rome, and that's what the first three pairs find out when they disembark in the Eternal City. This time, Bella hears her name everywhere. Hercules and Maxx are the first ones to the fountain, and after throwing their coins in (assuring their return to Rome some day), receive their clue: to go to the Coliseum. They head off with Heidi and Depot and Bella, Bella and Douglas in hot pursuit, Douglas having tried to drink out of the fountain.

Hercules drops in his three coins...

...as Bella takes a more leisurely approach

The Coliseum is home to many feral cats, all of whom want to see Bella, Douglas, and Depot as they arrive to find a DETOUR. The teams must decide what sort of work of art they want to create. In "Michael," they have to dig a statue out of a giant sandbox; in "Angelo" they have to climb up onto some scaffolding and paint a "ceiling." All three pairs choose "Michael," and Bella and Douglas finish first. They receive their final clue: to go to the Circus Maximus, their PET STOP for the night.

As Bella paints, Douglas looks on

The 2:30 train has now arrived, and Keo and June find a shortcut to the fountain. Army Mule and Navy Goat are stuck in traffic, and the foxes and retrievers beat them to the fountain as well. Things are not looking good for Team Army-Navy in Italy.

Sanford and Banjo at the Coliseum

As the defending Amanxing Race champs arrive at the Circus Maximus, they see six tiny Italian Greyhounds standing next to a man jumping up and down on a chair and yelling "Bella! Bella! It's Bella! La Vita e Bella!" Roberto Benigni welcomes the leaders to Italy and awards them each a return trip to Rome as promised by the fountain. Heidi and Depot are followed by the police dogs and the chimps, who were smart enough to realize that the painting option was much faster than the sculpture one.

"La Vita e Bella!!", exclaims Roberto Begnini

One by one, the other teams arrive. "Army Mule and Navy Goat... I'm sorry, but your team is the last to arrive at the Circus Amanximus pet stop.

However, this is the first Non-Elimination Round, and you are still in the race."

Next... on Dogleg 7 of the Amanxing Race: Which team will waltz into first place? Will it be Bella, or will she be the Third Manx? Will the outfoxed foxes be out? Are Army Mule and Navy Goat out of the Woods yet? And what big surprise awaits the little stowaway Pierre?
