The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs
DOGLEG 5: Polka Party!

The joy shared by the Amanxing Racers and the Connerys over the elimination of the unpleasant Fancy Feast cat is short-lived. Phil and Koko and the producers are huddled in a corner. The producers want the hosts to review the tapes of the tigers' behavior, and they ask Sean to help as well. Are Siegfried and Roy too dangerous to continue in the Race? Are they deliberately trying to sabotage the other Racers' chances?

Koko, can you tell us anything? "Bad bad big white cats. Devil big white cats. White cats hurt racers. Koko love good dogs. Koko love yellow dogs, big ear horse, white eat cans, black cats, All Ball cat, red dogs, fine animal chimps. Koko not love big white cats."

Well, at least we know who Koko really really really loves.

The producers have decided to give the Racers an extra day in Cannes while they review the tapes. Army and Navy and the chimps go for a sailboat ride, while Team QT, feeling right at home, heads to the beach along with Heidi, the foxes, and the cats. Hercules and Maxx go along, but they patrol the shoreline looking for swimmers who might need help.

Suddenly, Maxx perks up his ears when he hears something that sounds like a dog whimpering. Maxx and Taffy head over to the bushes, where they find a tiny white curly-haired puppy, not much more than a few months old. The puppy looks very sad.

Pierre

Maxx alerts the other Racers, who invite the puppy to go back to the PET STOP with them. Sean reads his tag and finds out his name is Pierre and he belongs to the Goizueta family of Madrid, Spain, who must have lost him on the beach. He tries to call Pierre's owners, but gets a message that they're still on vacation.

Maxx alerts the Racers to the little stowaway

After much begging from the other dogs, especially Taffy and Heidi, the producers decide to allow the puppy to travel with the Racers until his owners get back. Finally, after all the excitement, everybody decides to just follow Phil, who thinks that we need a little controversy, and it would feel so empty without Siegfried. So the tigers are racing again.

Taffy begs on behalf of Pierre

Hercules and Maxx, having come in first the day before, are the first Racers to leave the Pet Stop in Cannes, receiving their clue: Take the train to Munich, Germany, and go to the Hofbrauhaus, the city's most famous beer hall. The shepherds are naturally thrilled that they're going to Germany, where their breed was developed, and run for the train station. There, they find out that the next train doesn't leave until noon, allowing time for all the other Racers (with Pierre) to catch up. Maxx growls at the camera. Aboard the train, the cats sleep, Heidi plays chase with Pierre, Hercules helps the conductor take tickets, and stubborn Army Mule refuses to move away from the window, so Navy Goat head-butts the back of his seat the whole way into Germany.

At the Munich Hauptbahnhof (train station), commuters are surprised to see all the animals come running out of the train. Keo and June are the first to catch a cab, followed by the foxes, Bella and Douglas, and the retrievers. Siegfried and Roy are again causing trouble, scaring people in the station. Heidi keeps hearing people call her name.

Bella and Douglas are the first team to get to the Hofbrauhaus, where they find their ROAD BLOCK, called "Amanxing Racers European Vacation." One team member must dance on stage with the Hofbrauhaus Bavarian Dancers or until they earn ten euros. Keo, Quincy, Maxx, and Sanford begin the polka party.

Douglas and Depot are naturals at the Bavarian slap dance, making good use of their front paws, and Navy Goat is outstanding at the foot stomping dance. The other team members sit at the tables and drink beer, Taffy watching out for Pierre, who ends up on stage with the rest.

At the Hofbrauhaus

Everyone is having a great time until Siegfried accidentally (?) slaps a dancer with his enormous paw and knocks the man out. He and Roy are immediately delayed by the local police, giving the rest of the Racers time to find their next clue. They will have to charter a Mercedes-Benz and ride to the medieval town hall in Rottweil, Germany, their next Pet Stop.

Oh no! Keo and June's Mercedes has a flat tire! They find a service station and get it changed, just in time to pass up the foxes in the Black Forest. Douglas enjoys the Black Forest and thinks he's going to get some cake. Meanwhile, Siegfried and Roy are being taken in for questioning, but they growl at the police and manage to get out. They find the clue box and their Mercedes.

Henry Kissinger greets the Racers

Army Mule and Navy Goat, in a better mood now, are the first pair to arrive in Rottweil, where they are greeted by Phil, Koko, Pierre, Henry Kissinger and a Rottweiler. They win a free cruise, not on a Navy ship, which they can enjoy after the Race. Bella and Douglas arrive next. Nobody is terribly sorry to see Siegfried and Roy finish last, and to hear Phil tell them they're no longer part of the Amanxing Race. Did the producers learn their lesson?

Next... on Dogleg 6 of the Amanxing Race: Will a "Swiss miss" put Army Mule and Navy Goat out of the race? What team will paint themselves into a corner? Find out what teams will spend an evening in Roma!
