The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs
FINAL DOGLEG: Lassie Comes Home

And so it has come to this: Three teams of Amanxing Racers, ready to run the final dogleg to determine who will be the Best in Show.

Bella and Douglas have been here before. Quincy and Taffy, the Florida golden retrievers, are looking to add one more title to their string of Number One placements. Hercules and Maxx, heroes of the New York City Police Department, have proven to be heroes of the Race as well.

At 5 A.M., the well-rested teams are awakened. Ten minutes later, Phil Kiwi and Sean Connery greets them. "Good marnin', Racers. Dooglas, weren't ye here last time? Anyways, congrrrats on makin' it to the Final Thrrrree. Beforrre ye all go on to yer final Pet Stop, we wanted ye to remember yer old Race friends. If ye walk togetherr doon the Freedom Trail, ye'll notice a different movie posterrr at each stop, to remind ye of the places, people and pets ye met along the way. Pick oop all the dog tags ye find and bring them to the end. Go now, beforre there's trooble, and when ye get to the last posterr, ye'll be on yer way home."

Sean Connery gives the Racers a send-off at the Old North Church in Boston

With that, J.S. Bach's "Sheep May Safely Graze" plays on the soundtrack, and the six Racers leave the Church to find a poster of "Back To The Future" and dogtags with Casey and Clancy's names. At the next stop, they see "Flying Down To Rio" and we see clips of the opossums, Althea and Rosemary, lost in the hippie market in Brazil. Next, it's a poster for "The Prisoner" on video, with dog tags for Mei Xiang and Tian Tian. Oh, no, there they go in the taxi!

The red line leads them to a poster for "Never Say Never Again," with clips of the hissing Fancy Feast and the friendly Chef's Blend. The next two dog tags, for Siegfried and Roy, hang over a poster for "The Trial of Henry Kissinger." Everyone is glad to remember Roberto Benigni and his Italian Greyhound friends when they see a poster for "La Vita E Bella."

Along Boston's Freedom Trail, Douglas and Bella stop at their movie poster to meet "Ben Franklin".

Next is "Dracula," as clips of the foxes Sanford and Banjo, and Bela Lugosi Jr., are shown. But what's this? There's also a poster for the classic "Un Chien Andalou" and a dogtag for little stowaway Pierre! Taffy howls at this one. All six Racers salute as clips of Army Mule and Navy Goat play, and their tags hang on a poster for "The Bear" as Samboo is recalled. While no dog tags hang on the "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" poster, the Black and Golds find the tags for their friends Heidi and Depot next to a poster for "The Seven Samurai." The Racers are now at the Boston State House where they see the "Amores Perros" poster and remember their smart friends Keo and June. Finally, the trail leads them to the Boston Public Garden and a "Good Will Hunting" poster.

On Boston's Freedom Trail, Heidi and Depot pose along side their movie poster as they await the Amanxing Racers

And here comes Sean Connery on a Swan Boat! He has placed all three final clues on the ground near the Swan Boat dock, and Phil collects the dog tags. When Sean says "Goo," the Racers open the clues to read: "Fly to Los Angeles, California, and find Roddy McDowall's star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame."

Immediately, Bella and Douglas run for the Park Street T stop, while Q&T and Herc and Maxx catch cabs. OH NO! Q&T are stuck in the Callahan Tunnel, while the police dogs' cab driver goes illegally into the Ted Williams Tunnel. Fortunately, all three pairs get on the same flight to L.A.

It's now every pair for itself in the airport as a mad dash for cabs takes place. The shepherds end up in first, and they find Roddy's star right away, with the others tagging behind. The message on Roddy's star tells them to now go and find the star for Lassie. The dogs take off, leaving the smaller cats in the dust. Quincy and Taffy think they see a familiar star on the way.

The goldens and the shepherds are neck in neck as they find Lassie's star, where they open the final clue: "THE END is at Mann's Chinese Theater."

Maxx and Hercules rest for a moment as they look for Lassie's star on the Walk of Fame

While Quincy and Taffy go to consult a map, and Bella and Douglas arrive at the Lassie star, Hercules and Maxx just take off running. Following their noses, perhaps? Maybe so, but Quincy and Taffy have caught up. It's a mad dash toward Hollywood's most famous theater.

A huge crowd is waiting at Mann's. Keo and June are sitting on a braying Army Mule's back as Bela Lugosi, Jr. holds his reins. Navy Goat is waiting with Patrick McGoohan. There's Jackie Chan and Chicketty China with Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, and the Connerys with Chef's Blend and a much more pleasant Fancy Feast.

Two Foxes - Vicente and Banjo - meet the contestants at the finish line

There is Pele, who is kicking soccer balls toward a caged and muzzled Siegfried and Roy. Althea and Rosemary are swishing their tails. Michael J. Fox holds Sanford (a little unsteadily) and Vicente Fox holds Banjo while discussing whether or not they might be related. Colin Powell is holding up a cell phone so Samboo can listen from home. Heidi and Depot jump up and down, barking and meowing. And si, senor, the Goizueta family is here and they have brought Pierre, who barks happily. Casey and Clancy are frolicking on the beach at Malibu. They forgot where they were supposed to be.

Roberto Benigni

Roberto Benigni is bouncing on top of the roof and yells down to the crowd, 'The dogs, the dogs are together! It's the dogs! It's the dogs!" Indeed, Quincy and Taffy and Hercules and Maxx are running toward the theater when suddenly, on the sidewalk, they hear:

"Stop, thief! He took my purse! Help! Help!"

Immediately, Herc and Maxx stop what they're doing and go to work. Herc chases the purse snatcher, while Maxx goes and gets the CHiPs to help out the victim. They are too busy doing their duty to notice Quincy and Taffy running around the corner.

The golden retrievers run toward Mann's, with the crowd cheering them on, and then notice their final greeters: the most famous dog in the world, Lassie, and her most famous co-star, Elizabeth Taylor. "Congratulations! The Amanxing Race II goes to Quincy and Taffy!" says Liz.

"Yellow dogs win yellow dogs win yellow dogs win. Koko love yellow dogs," says our color commentator.

Roberto spazzes out again and screams, "BELLA! BELLA! HERE COMES BELLA! AND DOOGLASS TOO!" The defending champs pass up the police dogs, who are still waiting for the CHiPs, and the crowd cheers as Bella and Douglas arrive at Isle of Mann's Chinese Theater. They take second place.

Pierre

Finally, Ponch and Jon arrive at the crime scene and Hercules and Maxx complete the Race course in third. "Congratulations! The Amanxing Race II: Going to the Dogs has gone to the dogs!" All three finalist teams then put their pawprints in the cement in front of Mann's. Pierre sticks his nose in and gets a hug from Taffy. Phil Kiwi sticks his beak in.

"All Ball cat and black cat second. Big dogs third. Koko love cats and dogs. Koko love race. Little white dog back. Koko race next time?"

Fancy Feast has invited everyone to her Hollywood Hills mansion for the post-race party. Everyone hangs out around the pool, swapping stories and giving Navy Goat tin cans to eat. Taffy's mouth is full of candy and Douglas has his signature marshmallows. Koko eats apples.

The party continues on into the night when a mysterious figure arrives at the door. Nobody knows who he is, except for Quincy and Taffy, who run right away to see their owner who has just flown in from Florida. "Where'd you go, where'd you go, where'd you go, Boston? Japan? Scotland? Tell me all about it," he says. "I missed you guys. Oh, no, what did you eat? Candy? Is that the Pierre I heard about? Is that Bella and Douglas? Are you ready to go home? Aww, you're my doggies come-home!" He's followed by the Landon family who have come to pick up Heidi and Depot.

Nobody's ready to go home, though, and Q&T's owner and the Landons stick around for the rest of the party. Oops! Army Mule jumps into the pool, splashing everyone. Sanford follows him, and Navy Goat butts good sport Sean Connery in. Koko wades in the shallow end. Herc and Maxx are of course, the lifeguards, and they have to rescue Phil Kiwi when Koko throws him in.

The final three teams reach the end of The Amanxing Race 2

Mr. Goizueta then comes out with a covered tray. He has a big announcement. Because the Amanxing Racers were so nice to Pierre, he will be donating $1 million in the names of each of the three finalist teams to their favorite charities. The pairs huddle, then announce that they will donate the million to help Samboo and his friends in the Kabul Zoo.

Finally, it's time to say goodbye. The whole cast gathers for one final goodbye shot with their Amanxing Race 2 friends.
