The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs
DOGLEG 11: Fun in Acapulco

Despite the serenity of their Japanese surroundings, all the Amanxing Race teams seem a little distracted. They know there will be only one more non-elimination round before the final dogleg. Will it be this time, or the next?

There's a little bit of sadness at the Pet Stop, too, as the first members of the Black and Gold Alliance (Heidi and Depot) were eliminated last time. Interesting how three alliance teams have made the final four? Koko, what do you think?

"Koko love little yellow dog and black white cat. Koko love racers in city like fire alligators. Koko laugh. Koko want to climb building. Koko love chimps. Chimps fine animals. Chimps win."

The police dog pair, Hercules and Maxx, are the first to leave, and receive their clue: "This is no time for siesta, this is time for fun in Acapulco. Fly to Acapulco, Mexico, and go to the famous diving cliffs." They decide to take the bullet train back to Tokyo and fly out of that airport rather than trying to fly out of Akita. They're joined by the other four pairs on the train, Bella and Douglas sharing a plate of sushi.

At the Tokyo airport, all four pairs end up on the same flight to Acapulco, which has a stopover in Hawaii. Douglas, excited, thinks he's going to get some pineapple. Bella sleeps the whole way; Herc and Maxx help guard the cockpit, and Keo and June enjoy the in-flight movie, 'Planet of the Apes.'

Bella wakes up and greets the day as the plane lands in Acapulco and all four pairs rush to get taxis to the diving cliffs, where they find their next task: each pair must dive off the cliffs - attached to a bungee cord! Herc and Maxx go first - they're not scared, they've been through worse in New York. The goldens, always up for anything, go second. The chimps, who are not afraid of heights, and have fun, even swinging the bungee cord a little, Tarzan-style. Douglas is very scared, and lets out a loud MEOW as he jumps.

Keo

After the jump, the pairs are given their next clue by one of the muchos muchachos amigos: to take a bus to the northern Mexican city of Chihuahua and find the Plaza de Armas, the PET STOP for the night. The pairs run through the streets of Acapulco to the bus station, dodging people trying to sell them collars, leashes, ponchos, woven wool blankets, hand-painted pottery food bowls, and sombreros. Keo buys a sombrero outside the station after picking up his ticket, and Bella buys a poncho to sleep on.

On the road to Chihuahua

Oh no! The bus is going to take 24 hours to get to Chihuahua! Nevertheless, the racers settle in for the long ride. Bella immediately takes a siesta. Keo, wearing his sombrero, and June walk up and down the aisle looking for bananas.

When Bella wakes up the next morning, she looks out and thinks she's in the middle of a giant litterbox. They're in the Sonoran Desert, of course, real Three Amigos territory, but there's no singing bush. Finally, the bus stops in Chihuahua. When the Racers reach the Plaza de Armas, they find a huge fancy fiesta! "Viva los gatos, viva los perros, viva los monos!" yell the locals as a loud mariachi band played. Fireworks are set off.

At Plaza de Armas, Douglas seeks out a snack

In the middle of the Plaza are six pinatas, of each racer. The Bella one even has stripes and no tail! Keo notices that children are hitting the chimp pinata with a stick and thinks it's some sort of fight. This scares him and he hesitates. He runs off to the side and finds a little snake. This really sets Keo off, as chimps are instinctively afraid of snakes. Keo takes off running away. June chases him, remembering that they're losing time.

Herc poses beside his likeness

While the retrievers join in the fiesta fun, and Herc and Maxx patrol the crowd, a well-rested Bella and Douglas spot the Pet Stop route marker and run over, to find Mexican President Vicente Fox: holding a Chihuahua. The sight of this very tall man holding the tiniest of dogs is not one that will soon be forgotten. Bella and Douglas are first, the retrievers second, and the shepherds third.

The Keo & June team are eliminated

The little snake has been caught, and Keo has finally been coaxed out of
hiding. He finds the Pet Stop. When he and June see the sad faces of their
fellow Racers and Koko, they're both smart enough to realize they've been
eliminated this time. Adios, amigos.

In the next episode: As the Amanxing Racers travel to a North American seaside capital known for historic buildings, baseball, revolutions, a very famous politician who's been in power since the sixties, and a small friendly companion dog breed!
