The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs
DOGLEG 3: Who is Number One?

Hi, and once again welcome to another Dogleg in The Amanxing Race 2: Going to the Dogs. I'm the host, Phil Kiwi, along with color commentator Koko the Talking Gorilla.

We rejoin the Amanxing Racers at the Maracana Soccer Stadium in Brazil. Pele sticks around for the entire PET STOP rest period, playing soccer with Bella, when she's awake. Navy Goat head-butts the soccer balls for Quincy and Taffy to retrieve. Everyone enjoys a Brazilian black-bean feast, except for Fancy Feast.

Pele and Bella

Koko, are you enjoying the race? "Koko love race. Apple red. Goat play ball. All Ball cat sleep. Good yellow dogs good wolf dogs. Bad big white cats. Bad devil white cat lip lip."

Having come in first in the previous dogleg, Bella and Douglas are the first to leave the stadium. Their clue: Fly to Edinburgh, Scotland, and find the statue of Greyfriars Bobby, the famous Skye Terrier who guarded his master's grave for many years. The tigers are next, followed by the chimps, the foxes, and Team Army/Navy.

In one of those coincidences that somehow happen a lot on the Amanxing Race, all ten teams have booked the same flight to London. Bella and Douglas, Keo and June, Quincy and Taffy, and Heidi and Depot all arrange for their Edinburgh flight before they leave Rio. Siegfried growls at Bella, but she refuses to give up her seat. Fancy Feast and Roy get into a hissing and spitting war in the airport.

The plane lands in London and the Black and Gold Alliance pairs immediately board their shuttle to Edinburgh. Navy Goat spots Captain Nigel Finchley of the British Royal Navy at the airport, and he agrees to fly Army/Navy, the police dogs, and the pandas to Edinburgh, but he will not fly the rude tigers. They, along with the Gruesome Twosome and the foxes, catch a flight an hour later.

Douglas is very excited that he's going back to Scotland, and upon arrival in Edinburgh the four pairs head over to the Bobby statue to find their next clue: Ride in one of ten Land Rovers to Bedlington, England, where they will find their next clue.

Douglas poses by the Greyfriar's Bobby statue, Edinburgh

Quite a few Edinburgh residents remember "Dooglass" from the Amanxing Race I, and he gets stuck posing for a few pictures with the locals. The Navy flight pairs arrive soon after, with the pandas arriving at Bobby's statue first.

Tian Tian climbs up Greyfriar's Bobby

In Bedlington, home of a famous terrier, the racers find their next clue: to have their Land Rover drivers take them to the beach at Portmeirion, Wales. A line of Land Rovers heads through the Lakeland district, the Airedale, Norwich and Norfolk, and on into Wales.

Bedlington

Back in Edinburgh, Siegfried, Roy, and Fancy Feast are engaged in an enormous hissing and roaring match. Chef's Blend just sits back and rolls his eyes, while the foxes sneak ahead of them and into their Land Rover.

The racers find their next ROAD BLOCK in Portmeirion. One player must run into the water and swim out and around a large white weather balloon that is anchored in the harbor. Heidi and Taffy enthusiastically start swimming, while June holds back a little - she knows she's far enough ahead that she doesn't have to go that fast. She backstrokes out around the weather balloon, followed by Douglas.

At Portmeirion, Taffy swims out to the water balloon

Once out of the water, teams can find their next clue, which reads as follows: "Welcome to Your Village. Hoof it to the Village Green to find your latest Pet Stop. Be seeing you."

The teams proceed on foot to the Village Green, where they find Patrick McGoohan, star of "The Prisoner," filmed in Portmeirion, with a Welsh Terrier. "Welcome to Wales!" he says. "Who is Number 1? Congratulations, Heidi and Depot!" Who is Number 2? Keo and June. Who is Number 3? Quincy and Taffy. Who is Number 4? Bella and Douglas.

Patrick McGoohan and friend greet the Racers

Two more Land Rovers arrive, and Navy Goat and Maxx have a swimming race. "Congratulations, Hercules and Maxx! You are Number 6, and as such, have won a complete DVD set of 'The Prisoner' to enjoy at home."

When the pandas arrive a few minutes later with no other teams there, Mei Xiang does the swim, but oh no, what's this? The pandas are taking a taxi to the Village Green? Didn't they understand the English slang term "hoof it?" Viewers wonder what's going on when they don't see clips of the tigers, foxes, and Fancy Feast and Chef's Blend cats arriving.

Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, in a Village Taxi

What they do see is Phil, sitting with Mei Xiang and Tian Tian. "Mei Xiang and Tian Tian... we have reviewed the tapes of your arrival. The clue specifically told you to "hoof it" to the Village Green, but you took a taxi.

Unfortunately, we are resigned to giving you a penalty of an hour for not performing the task correctly. Fancy Feast and Chef's Blend had come in last, but your penalty puts your time behind theirs. Therefore, Mei Xiang and Tian Tian, you are the third pair eliminated from the Amanxing Race II."

The pandas hang their heads as Bella, Douglas, and Chef's Blend say goodbye to their old friends.

Next... on Dogleg 4 of the Amanxing Race: Menacing phantoms, and one tower? Wherefore ART thou, Taffy? Which team "Cannes" - and which will get "canned"? Plus: he's tackled Goldfinger, Dr. No, Blofeld, and even Blofeld's cat - but never a feline foe like this one.
