MARBELLA, SPAIN TO AMSTERDAM, HOLLAND |
At the Pet Stops, teams have a mandatory 12-hour rest period in which they can eat, sleep, and mingle with other racers. In some cases, tensions are already beginning to run high between team members. Desi is hissing at Stravinsky over some political matter, and the kangaroo pouchmates are again boxing with each other. Joey and Larry are swinging by their tails from Ernesto’s horns, while Bela and Victoria relax in the pool, snapping their jaws at Burgess and Meridith when they dumped ice into the water. Holly, Monty, and Celia are playing a chase game with Alejandrito while the ever-patient father and daughter donkeys from Bethlehem, Ibrahim and Omara, supervise. Bella and Douglas, however, are sleeping they know not to waste a lot of energy at the Pet Stops and to conserve it for the Race itself. Koko, what do you think of all this? Having come in first last time, Ibrahim and Omara are the first to leave Marbella, with this clue: Take your marked taxi back to Malaga and take the train to the village of Mortagne au Perche, France and find the Town Hall. The first Paris train doesn’t leave until 9:00 the next day, so all twelve remaining teams are able to make the same train. While boarding, Bela and Victoria push their very large selves to the front of the line and almost step on Zhivago. They take up three seats apiece, forcing the Russian cats and the corgis to sleep in the overhead compartments. Desi and Celia are confused about directions. Ernesto and Fermin politely allow Bella and Douglas to sit on their backs, and Bella is lulled to sleep right away. The Le Perche region of France is the home of the Percheron draft horse, and in honor of that giant breed, the Road Block clue requires one team member to pull a cart around a course in the front yard of the Town Hall. Maxx jumps out into the lead, with Ernesto running behind and Burgess waddling in third place. Bella and Holly make an unusual no-tailed pair, but are pushed to the side as Victoria rumbles through. Sydney is having a lot of trouble, as he can only jump rather than run. The teams of Normandy invaders arrive. The two cat pairs are excited for the chance to dig in the sand! Maxx finds a ticket for the 7:00 ship, but being a smart police dog, he investigates, digging further and finding a 6:00 ticket and an 8:00 ticket. He and Herc sign up for the 6:00 boat along with Bella and Douglas, Desi and Celia, and Stravinsky and Zhivago. Joey the Lemur, who doesn’t know any better, grabs the 8:00 ticket he finds right away, as does Sydney whose team was last to arrive, and Meredith who has trouble digging with only her flippers. At dawn, the first troop transport ship arrives, to take the four teams to their next destination: Amsterdam, Holland. Bonita and Geraldo, having cleverly enlisted the help of a few local children, board their ship. Upon landing in Amsterdam, they receive their next clue: to go to the Heineken Brewery and pick up one case of Heineken, which they will deliver to the Pet Stop: Amsterdam’s famous Rijksmuseum. They can enlist any sort of help they like, but they have to bring the beer to the Museum. Hercules hunts down a Dutch policeman, who directs he and Maxx to the museum in exchange for a few free beers. They arrive first, and are met by Eddie Van Halen with a Dutch Warmblood horse and a Percheron just for good measure. “Welcome to Amsterdam, dudes, you’re Team Number One. You’ve both won a free trip back to Amsterdam, which you can enjoy once the Amanxing Race is over. Police dogs. Like they’re going to enjoy Amsterdam.” One by one, the other beer deliverers arrive, until Eddie has the sad task of telling Adelaide and Sydney weighed down by carrying the beer bottles in their pouches that they might as well jump out of the Amanxing Race as they are the last to arrive. In the next episode of The Amanxing Race 3: Globe Trotters: The Penguins enjoy a challenge they were born to do, but will they be the luckiest when the Racers visit a country where Monty and Holly might not be welcome? (But we like them, too.) |
