Better run to the Jungle
Having come in first last time, Derby winners War Emblem and Monarchos are the first to leave after twelve hours of rest. The horses receive their next clue: Fly to Miami, Florida, and go directly to the famous Parrot Jungle.

This time, each team goes to the Portland airport and makes travel arrangements, the skunks, Hedley and McClurg, again causing screams. Five of the teams are connecting through Boston; the other five, undeterred by the difficulties of the raccoons Cassie and Skinny Boy - eliminated last week - are going through New York.

The New Yorkers (the two White House pairs, cats Bella and Douglas, skunks Hedley and McClurg, and gorilla Koko and his cat friend Smoky) arrive at Miami first and catch the local trolley to Parrot Jungle, where they receive their ROAD BLOCK instructions.

A ROAD BLOCK is a task in which only one member of the two-critter Team may participate; in most cases, the other member must wait for the partner to accomplish the goal.

One racer must get a picture taken with a parrot on his or her shoulder. Koko signs "bird" as she gets a parrot picture. McClurg is next; he's glad the parrot doesn't know what he is and doesn't shy away. Bella tries to catch the bird.

Big trouble in Little Havana
After getting the pictures, the parrot man gives them their next clue: to go to Calle Ocho in the Little Havana neighborhood and find the fruit market with the flag.

Spotty and Barney get in touch with their cousins in Tallahassee and get to the market first, followed by the skunks. Douglas follows his nose to the wrong pineapple stand.

Un"bear"able
When the Boston plane arrives, the polar bears are immediately affected by the heat and humidity and have to stop repeatedly to get drinks. The pandas have a little better luck and after checking on the polars, head over to Parrot Jungle. The Chef's Blend cat tries to stop and help the polar bears, but Fancy Feast hisses at him to keep moving.

Spotty and Barney, at the market, get their next clue: to head for the night's Pet Stop, the finish line of Hialeah Park Race Track. As they arrive, they're greeted by actor Andy Garcia holding a Havana Brown cat. "Bienvenidos a Miami! Welcome to Miami,and Little Havana!" he says. They are followed by Koko and Smoky, Hedley and McClurg, Ernie and Socks, and Bella and a very happy Douglas, who has purchased a bag of plantain chips which he shares with Ernie and Socks.

The horses decide, having heard where the Pet Stop was, to race right to the track and thus are penalized a half-hour for skipping a clue. The pandas and Friskies cats both will leave ahead of them tomorrow.

Back at Parrot Jungle, Klondike and Snow are still moving very slowly, affected by the high Florida heat and humidity. They're polar bears, after all. They arrive last at Hialeah Park, and are the second team eliminated from the race.

"Klondike, Snow......", host Phil Kiwi informs the disappointed bears, "I'm sorry, you're the last team to arrive. You've been eliminated from the Amanxing Race."
