Bella goes ape
Two days into the Amanxing Race, it's evident that alliances are beginning to develop.

The first is among the three Washington, D.C. based pairs (cats Ernie and Socks, Spotty and Barney, the White House dogs, and pandas Mei Xiang and Tian Tian). The second, more surprising, one is between the gorilla Koko and Bella. "Cat cat good cat, All Ball" says Koko, remembering her striped Manx kitten made famous in a children's book. She seems to think the tail-less Bella is related to All Ball, which is fine with Bella.

Spotty and Barney are the first to leave the Hialeah, Florida Pet Stop, and they receive the following instructions: Fly to Douglas, Isle of Man, where they must find a pub known as Dick Darbies. The crafty Scottie and English Springer Spaniel decide they'll use their owner President Bush's Air Force One rather than commercial flights, and head off to the airport, followed by the Koko and Smoky, the skunks Hedley and McClurg, cats Ernie and Socks, and former Presidential running mates Bella and Douglas.

They'll be dogs gone
In the cab to the airport, Spotty and Barney argue over whether they should wait for the pandas or not. They decide to, and after about an hour, the pandas, Ernie and Socks, and the dogs take off for Reagan National.

The Bella/Douglas and Koko/Smoky teams decide to fly directly to London, then reserve seats on the 2:30 Manx Airways flight to the Isle. Bella, a Manx, of course knew how to get there. They are joined by Climber and Pinta, the skunks, and the Kentucky Derby-winning horses War Emblem and Monarchos on the flight, but these three teams don't have a Manx Airways flight.

Upon arrival at Heathrow, Team Koko/Smoky and Bella/Douglas race over to the Manx Airways counter. Climber sees them and the two other teams follow. The lucky skunks get on the 2:30; the other two have to wait an hour.

But who's that arriving with great fanfare in Douglas at 1:30? It's Air Force One! The pandas run to the first cab and fortunately their driver knows where Dick Darbies is. The cats share, but their driver gets lost. Both pairs of cats are dismayed that there are so many people named Quayle on the island.

Beers for bears
At Dick Darbies, the pandas have to drink a pint of the Isle of Man's own Bushy's Beer, after which they get their next clue: Go to a boat anchored in the Douglas Head for the Pet Stop. They lumber off through the streets of Douglas to find the boat. Meanwhile, the 2:30 flight lands and the Bella-Douglas pair head off to the pub. The gorillas and skunks get in different cabs which follow Bella's. Meanwhile, back in London, Climber and Pinta have made it onto the 3:30 flight, but the horses are having trouble clearing customs and get stuck.

You should be dancing, bears
The pandas find a shuttle out to the boat. When they arrive, they're greeted by the legendary singing group The Bee Gees - each member of the group holding a Manx cat. They sing in harmony, "Welcome, welcome, welcome to Ellan Vannin, the Isle of Man!" Bella and Douglas come in second, followed by the D.C. cats, the D.C. dogs, and the skunks.

Horses handicapped
The horses by now realize they're so far behind, they can't possibly win, place, or show in this round, so they walk to the pub and swim out to the boat themselves.

"War Emblem...... Monarchos......", says host Phil Kiwi. "You've arrived last at the Pet Stop. Your team has been eliminated from the race. I'm sorry."

The Kentucky Derby winners won't be the winners of this Amanxing Race.

Next on THE AMANXING RACE: Beneath the blue, super-blue, sky, the animals stage a British invasion. But will this be The End for Fancy Feast and Chef's Blend?
