THE AMANXING RACE 3: GLOBETROTTERS
Team Profiles

Adelaide and Sydney
Kangaroo Pouchmates
Porpoise Spit, Australia
Say g’day mate, to Adelaide and Sydney. They’ve been together since they shared their mother’s pouch, and now these two are ready to hop to it on the Amanxing Race 3. They enjoy drinking Foster’s Lager, hunting crocodiles, going on walkabouts, and listening to Olivia Newton-John albums. Surprisingly, they aren’t the first marsupials in the race: opossums Althea and Rosemary beat them to it. Aussie, Aussie, Aussie, oi, oi, oi!

Akira and Toshiro
Snow Monkey Friends
Nagano, Japan
Akira and Toshiro, snow monkey friends from Japan, are hoping their Amanxing Race 3 efforts won’t be lost in translation. In winter, you will see them soaking themselves in the hot water while the snow falls on their heads. They’re looking forward to going up in the mountains, and also to the hot tubs at the Pet Stops. Let’s hope they don’t wander around the Pet Stops aimlessly at night.

Bela and Victoria
Hippo Brother and Sister
Kruger National Park, South Africa
These cosmic hippos are outbound to the Amanxing Race III from their stomping grounds in the New South Africa. The heaviest contestants ever, communication will be one of their strengths as they travel around the latitude and longitude of the acoustic planet in search of UFO Tofu and the Amanxing Race 3 crown. Will they sea Brazil, the West Country, or the Leaning Tower? Will they step quiet, or run into trouble and strife?

Bella and Douglas
Amanxing Race I Winners
Chicago, IL
You know them, you love them, they’re Bella and Douglas, the striped Manx cat and black cat, winners of the first Amanxing Race and second-place finishers last time. What Amanxing Race fan will ever forget Douglas and his scarf, or Bella floating leisurely across the Trevi Fountain to drop her coins in? Bella and Douglas are dedicating their Race to the memory of their friends and fellow Amanxing Race II competitors, Depot and Quincy.

Bonita and Geraldo Alpaca Mates
Lima, Peru
Bonita and Geraldo are alpaca mates from the mountains of Peru. Alpacas were a cherished treasure of the ancient Incan civilization and played a central role in the Incan culture that was located on the high Andean Plateau and mountains of South America. Now bred in captivity for their soft fur, these gentle animals have no incisors, horns, hooves, or claws. Will Bonita and Geraldo still be able to compete in the Amanxing Race 3 with Bella, the donkeys, and the bulls?

Burgess and Meredith
Penguin Pals
Ross Ice Shelf, Antarctica
The first-ever winged competitors in The Amanxing Race, Burgess and Meredith are already dressed for the formal black-tie Race awards banquet! At home on the Ross Ice Shelf, they enjoy catching fish, sliding on the ice, and plotting schemes to take over the world. Following their 70-mile march inland, Burgess and Meridith took turns hatching their chick’s egg, but now are estranged and will be searching for new mates next year. Will they be able to waddle to the front of the pack, or will they be in over their heads? Tune in to the Amanxing Race, same bat-time, same bat-channel.

Desi and Celia
Havana Brown Cat and Havanese Dog
Havana, Cuba
It’s not easy to be a pet in Cuba these days, but Desi and Celia are able to get by with a little help from their friends in their neighborhood. Desi chases mice through the streets of Havana and enjoys sunning himself on the old cars. He once got shooed away from the Capitolio by a mean old man with a beard. Celia takes walks with her owner on the Malecon and often stops by Egrem Studios where she “sings” along with the music. Both of these pets hope to “see you in C-U-B-A” sometime soon.

Ernesto and Fermin
Running-of-the-Humans Papa and Son
Pamplona, Spain
Da Bulls! When the sun also rises on July 7 in Pamplona, Spain, Fermín and his papa Ernesto are ready to participate in what they call the Running of the Humans. Ernesto enjoys hunting, fishing, running after red capes, and a clean well-lighted place; Fermín loves tormenting matadors, mooing, pounding his hooves on the ground, and sitting under cork trees smelling flowers. Soon we will know whether Ernesto and Fermín are to have or have not the Amanxing Race 3 title.

Hercules and Maxx
ARII Runners-Up/ New York City Police Dogs
New York City, USA
The heroes of The Amanxing Race II, Hercules and Maxx were in prime position to win it all on the final leg when they stopped to help a bystander whose purse had been stolen. They ended up in third, but first in the hearts of police officers everywhere. The super-intelligent German Shepherds continue to work with the New York City police department, and also own a partnership in an all-doggy restaurant, K-9.

Ibrahim and Omara
Donkey Father and Daughter
Bethlehem, West Bank
Ibrahim and his daughter Omara are the direct descendants of a donkey who arrived in Bethlehem on December 24, 4 B.C. They still live in the stable their ancestors lived in, and still eat hay out of the manger. Ibrahim is the oldest competitor in the Race and hopes he doesn’t get lost while looking for the Pet Stop. Omara, known for wearing brightly-colored blankets, is looking forward to seeing the rest of the world.

Joey and Larry
Furry Sort of Lemur Friends
Antananarivo, Madagascar
Joey, and Larry, they’re friends of mankind, our furry sort of monkey friends, they really do shine. Joey, and Larry, they’ll run everywhere, Joey, and Larry, what kind of heck of animals are they anyways? They once took a whiz on Johnny Carson’s sportcoat. They don’t panel well. They carry on like a Gilbert Gottfried of the animal world. You know, they’re the clown princes of the primate world who are often mistaken for our friend the chimpanzee.

Monty and Holly
Royal Welsh Corgis
Windsor, England, London, England, and Balmoral, Scotland
Monty and Holly live modestly with their owners, Phil and Betty, in a rather large house in Windsor, England. Sometimes they live downtown, and enjoy watching the guards change outside their room. Sometimes, they go up to Scotland and run down the moor, across the heather, hunting for haggis. They also enjoy visiting their owners’ grandsons, Will and Harry, and flying on planes. We will certainly be amused if this royal pair takes the Amanxing Race 3 crown.

Stravinsky and Zhivago
Russian Blue-s Brothers
Moscow, Russia
It’s 106 miles to Moscow. Stravinsky and Zhivago have a full coat of blue fur, half a pack of Fancy Borscht, they’re blue, and they’re wearing fur hats. Just the way to train for the Amanxing Race 3! These Russian Blue brothers live in Moscow with their owners, and saw the competitors visit the St. Basil’s Cathedral pet stop in the first Amanxing Race. Ever since, they’ve wanted to join the Amanxing Race, and now they can. Will they form an alliance with their fellow cats, Bella and Douglas?
