Linden Theatre

The 783-seat Linden Theatre, built in 1910, was at 743 West 63rd Street, next door to the Whelan Drug Store (southeast corner of Halsted and 63rd). It was closed in 1957, demolished in 1961. (map)

Sis describes the Linden this way:

“The Linden was a little, shabby interior and a small theatre. Usually very old movies. We went there to save money, but also to see any movies we missed. Your date was a little cheap if he sugested going here (unless you were going steady).”
